What is the Dressember Movement?
Founded in 2013, Dressember uses the symbolic power of dresses to spark conversations about human trafficking and sexual violence. The initiative aims to restore dignity to survivors and mobilize resources for prevention, rescue, and aftercare.
Why Dresses?
The dress, traditionally seen as a symbol of femininity, is reimagined as a tool for activism. Wearing a dress throughout December becomes a statement of solidarity with the millions of women and girls affected by trafficking and sexual assault.
Why It Matters:
An estimated 1 in 3 women worldwide has experienced physical or sexual violence in their lifetime (World Health Organization).
In the U.S., nearly 20% of women are victims of attempted or completed rape (National Sexual Violence Resource Center).
Over 40 million people globally are trapped in modern slavery, and women and girls make up 71% of those victims (UNODC).
Join Us:
Together, we can use art and awareness to fight back against the injustices women face every day. Come in your dress, celebrate your power, and show that advocacy can be beautiful.
💜 Take a stand. Share your story. Make a difference.
